The first NZ metal to poke its head above the international parapet in my time (20 years and counting) away from the country. I can practically feel the Wellington dripping off it! Andrew Salmond
Combining crooned murder ballads with raw, angsty hard rock hooks, Melbourne's The Ugly Kings are a wrecking crew well worth watching. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 15, 2021

The surprisingly comical new video from roaring metal group Red Fang is a tip of the hat to the original “Predator.” Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 12, 2016

If Mastodon had super catchy hooks, if Priestess wrote more complex songs, if Sleep sped up the tempo and shortened the songs, then they might sound something like Red Fang. For me this album is the archetype of sludge, stoner, and doom distilled into tightly written and irresistibly catchy songs. I can't really compare this to other bands because other bands should be compared to this. This is my new standard. dharmalogos
